Calendula Salve, 2oz

I have been making medicinal herbal oils for many years, but this year has been my first with turning them into salves and I will never go back! Salves are so easy to work with, no mess, and can go with you where you need them. I always have my salves in my bag!

Calendula is an abundantly medicinal herb, from internal application (teas. tinctures) to external application (this salve!)

Uses for topical application of calendula:

• Lymphagogue: Calendula possesses gentle lymph moving qualities, and topical application around areas of concentrated lymph nodes (under the jaw, armpits, groin, etc.) can help improve lymphatic drainage and reduce inflammation or stagnation of lymphatic fluid
• Vulnerary: Calendula helps speed wound healing by increasing fibroblast activity, the cells that produce collagen and encourage new tissue formation
• Anti-inflammatory: topical application of Calendula for inflammatory skin conditions like acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis or rashes that feel hot, red, irritated. Calendula can help cool and calm irritation while improving drainage around these inflamed areas.
• Antimicrobial/antifungal: like natures polysporin! If you are concerned about a mild infection of the skin from acne to cuts/burns/scrapes or fungal issues **ensure that the affected area is cleaned well before applying a salve-- salves can seal in infection if wound is not properly cleaned before application**
• Astringent/stiptic: Calendula tightens and tones loose or weeping tissues, slowing blood/pus
• Emollient: the resins in Calendula flowers are helpful for soothing and protecting dry, cracked, irritated skin
