Cramp Bark Tincture

Cramp bark, Viburnum opulus is a deciduous shrub native to Europe, northern Africa, and parts of Asia, though it has naturalized in North America. It produces clusters of large white flowers that look similar to hydrangeas, and after produces bright red berries that look like cranberries.

Cramp bark-- the name really says it all! The medicinal bark of the plant possesses strong antispasmodic properties, meaning it helps to relax smooth muscle. I love using and recommending them for menstrual cramps, though they are also helpful with stomach/intestinal cramps (think IBS flare-ups), urinary spasms, as well as muscle tension. Because of its astringent nature, I also work with and recommend this one to anyone struggling with menhorrhagia, or heavy menstrual bleeding. 

Cramp bark has also been worked with for its ability to prevent miscarriage by slowing uterine contractions.

Dosage:

15-30 drops every 30 minutes until pain subsides. Do not go over 4ml tincture in a 24 hr period.

Can also be used to reduce heavy bleeding during menstruation
